Early Childhood

DCS’s Early Childhood Program is an exciting DCS program where our youngest students are loved and supported in their physical, spiritual, emotional, and cognitive development. DCS prioritizes individualized attention and caring relationships through small class sizes and a dedicated and loving teaching staff. DCS’s Early Childhood Program meets state requirements for quality of care and professional excellence.

Curriculum and Instruction

Christian Focus

DCS’s Early Childhood Program is distinctly Christian. Each day is started with Bible stories, prayer, and worship. Our early childhood teachers prioritize discipleship in the classroom, taking opportunities to instruct our students in Christ-like character and encouraging them to build a relationship with God.

Montessori Inspired

Montessori education emphasizes hands-on learning, developing real world skills, and practicing independent self care skills.

  • DCS preschoolers engage in play-based activities that support independent and experiential learning.
  • Each preschool classroom has themed units that involve interactive projects that include nature themes and natural materials.
  • Part of the Montessori approach is teaching students how to practice self-care through skills like washing their face and hands; learning how to button, zip, snap, and buckle their clothing, and so much more.
  • Our preschoolers also work on real-world skills such as washing their dishes, sweeping the floor, cleaning the table, and putting things away.
